The Guv'na and Swayze on the first tee at Haymaker in Steamboat Springs. |
Former USA Captain Eric "Swayze" Silagy officially handed the Quaich over to the new USA leader, Chris "Guv'na" Hughes, in Steamboat Springs, Colorado this weekend. The white belts were on display as the former and current captains tee'd it up at Haymaker Golf Course. The Guv'na, who will be accompanying the Quaich to its new residence in Austin, Texas, showed proper deference to his predecessor in a formal hand-off ceremony before their casual round. "Swayze narrowly beat the Scots in his two opportunities as captain," said The Guv'na. "Frankly, he made some questionable decisions that allowed the Quaich matches to be closer than they needed to be. I don't plan to make it that exciting."
The next Quaich matches will be played in Austin on dates yet to be determined.
